As and when the tourists cross the Div Chawk of Kalipong Military Station while going Durpin Monastery, Teesta View Point and Kanchanjunga View Point , the eye catching wall paintings around Div Chawk attract the visiting tourists. But Sri Deepak Subba, the painter's brush with enamel paint depicting the local art and culture of the region are no less than Picasso if he born in big cities and his art works are projected by the journalists of the region. Our artists are in dark just like pearl inside the cell in dark unfathomed cave in the ocean bears.    

 

Heritage building of Kalimpong : Gauripur House

Gouripur House used belong to the eponymous zemindars of that name. Its claim to fame is that Rabindranath Tagore spent some of his last holidays here. The building was damaged in a fire, which has left it desolate and in an unkempt state. 

This is where the Noble Laureate Rabindranath Tagore would stay whenever he would visit, his very favorite summer retreat . Kalimpong. So many famous verses have been penned from here.  

There is a marvel engraved and pasted on the wall of Gauripur House in Bengali script that "এই ভবনে রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুর  বাস করেছেন এংব ২৫ বৈশাখ ১৯৪৫ কবিগুরু "জন্মভূমি " কবিতা আকাশবাণী মাধ্যমে জীবনটা আবৃতি করিছেন "

 So its really sad to see this place almost in ruins. The government needs to look into the matter and immediately restore the place to its former glory. Although it is a heritage building of Kalimpong which is one of tourists' destination visit if it well maintained. No bengali come forward to restore this heritage building but the conscious and  Kalimpong  loving  citizens must think and act to restore this property.

  Helena Roerich lived in Crookety House, a bungalow built by the British in the 1940s.  She is believed to have carried on the work prescribed by Master Morya over the next seven years. “I exist only due to the ray of the Great Master, who said it was necessary for me to remain because no one could replace me as I worked under the highest Cosmic Sign, and this century was in need of my attainment,” Roerich said to friends, according to Drayer. The Russian philosopher’s main aim was to spread the message of Agni Yoga (Living Ethics). The most of Buddist Russian regard her as Goddess of Agni Yoga. Helena Ivanovna Roerich was a Russian theosophist, writer, and public figure. In the early 20th century, she created, in cooperation with the Teachers of the East, a philosophic teaching of Living Ethics. 

        In the year of 1955 during the month of October, Helena Roerich suffered heart attacks and passed away in her sleep at the age of 76. Helena Roerich's body was cremated and her ashes were placed in a Buddhist stupa which is located in the compound of the Zang Dhok Palri Phodang Buddhist monastery. Zang Dhok Palri Phodang Buddhist monastery was established in the year of 197

Traditional fire place of tribal people where all the family members sit around the fireplace to take food and warm up their bodies in winter month.

When lepcha ladies dry and barbeque meat it's greasy smoke formed in the form of crystal black diamond in the bamboo drying tray above fire place.
